Banned book week is when William act comes and checks if every student has a book for each of they’re classes. I don’t think that banned book week is really important because not every student does bring there books and I just think that this is a waste of time. I don’t really know if I cared if the government banned books from libraries because I don’t like reading so I don’t check out books.

  2. As my opinion, Banned Books Week comes in order to censor books can be read or not. Most of the books are about sexually explicit, violence, nudity….and they affect on readers negatively, especially young. Like “Flashcards of My Life”, a book is for children 9-12, but it is about sex. It is right to be challenged because of its unsuitability. Publishers and librarians have to make sure that books they have are not real bad and suited for each group of ages. That is why Banned Books Week is important! I think it does not matter if the government bans books from public libraries or schools because those places are connecting to students and children closely. If there is any book that unsuited for the ages of students, the government can ban it to prevent it influence badly to young. The government should not censor materials available to the general public, but they have to separate cautiously which books are for what group of ages. People have the freedom to read. If the government censor materials to the general public, people will feel their freedom is being limited.

Banned week comes during the beginning of the school year in September to check for books basically books that we are allowed to have in school and read. The books that are banned are usually the ones that include violence, sex, drugs, etc. To me banned week is just a waste of time; banning certain type of books is just dumb. Either way some how small children and teenagers are still going to find out about the violent stuff. All the inappropriate things can’t only occur in reading it also happens out there in the community, at home, everywhere, even my watching the TV shows, news, and movies. I think is just better to keep those books so teenagers could know the stuff that happens so they won’t want to do it because it they keep on banning books obviously there going to be curious to know about it. Like for example a children’s picture book called “Penguin parents in the Central Park Zoo” a book about the same sex also another one about homosexuality “Tango Makes three”. By keeping this books it doesn’t mean that the children are going to go out there become homosexuality or when they get older married someone with the same sex as them. Books like that don’t turn them into that it all depends in the children and how they feel about themselves some just change their way of liking someone because that’s what they prefer to be. What’s the point of banning music, books, magazines, internet sites, etc. if there’s violence everyday out there in the world and is the people’s decision to commit the mistakes they do.
